Prickles and papers....

I had a couple of cards to make this week.....one though was going to be a tricky get well/thinking of you sort of card ....for a bloke....and jokey wouldn't have been appropriate, I was a bit stumped until I saw City Crafters "feeling prickly"challenge....
Ah ha!  My young friend Emily has just started an online Etsy shop designing and selling her own die cut shapes...and they are fabulous. I'm not just saying it because she is very dear to my heart it's because they are beautifully made and very original .....including her her new set of  Cactii! .....perfect for a mans get well card.

I didn't want to just stick them on ... "job done" ...the diecuts are perfect for instant cards but I decided to use  Just Add Ink's circular sketch to create some movement round the card and the rest of the sketch for the placement of my diecuts and stamped tag.

......I was going to cheat and enter Less is More's Designer Paper challenge but I didn't choose the papers for the Die-cuts (although Emily does have a fantastic eye for colour and uses top quality card stock)  and as this blog is really about "have a go crafting on a budget" I decided to make my goddaughters "new home" card totally JUST ADD GLUE style

......So I hope Less is More will accept everyday designer paper ......an old road map...the inside of an envelope ...all stuck on a piece of card from my box of tea bags!!!
Teamed together with some hand doodled elements and some salvaged confetti.

"As you like it" asked for "favourite paper" and I have to say I have lots of specialist papers which I adore but I actually don't think you can beat an old map, or book page ......or inside of an envelope....does anyone else love the cute little designs inside envelopes???

How fabulous! I love both these cards. Emily really does do lovely die cuts and your use of the embossing round the edge looks great. Your LIM card is really appealing to me because I too love using old maps, books etc. (I have a wonderful set of old maps of 30s-50s America which I'm hoarding and can hardly bear to use!) It looks fab and your goddaughter is going to love it!

Love both of your cards, but your second card is an amazing example of what you can create with what would usually go to waste. Like you, I love the insides of envelopes! Karen x

2 fabulous cards and great examples of using your design papers in a CAS way. Unfortunately I think you may have linked to more challenges than we allow at Less is More. Our maximum including our own is 5 but you may have linked to 6. Thanks for sharing your card and hope you'll play along again sometime. Sarah (LIM DT)

Both your cards are lovely and your nailed our theme with your "prickly"card. It's gorgeous! Thanks for being with us this week at CCCB!

An inspired way too re-use papers. I am starting to save bits and pieces with interesting patterns etc. But I'd have to leave home if I started cutting up maps, maps are sacrosanct! (They do look lovely on cards though).

I have used maps in this way too, your card looks simply super Diane!
Thanks so much

Hi, Diane! I love both your cards! Those die cuts are so cool, will have to check them out. I'm also going to have to take opening the mail from my husband so I can look for the wonderful insides you have so aptly used. Thanks for this inspiration and thanks for joining us this week at As You Like It Challenge!
